"This Man Called Jesus" begun in 1988 as a live manger scene set up on the highway in front of Lake Murray Baptist Church. Today, it is a two hour live performance of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus! It is an amazingly powerful portrayal/drama depicting the details of Jesus' life.
My family has been a part of TMCJ since it began. Many of those years, my mama, sister and I were cast members while my daddy was on parking lot crew. We have spent many Christmas seasons, every weekend, involved in this ministry. It is such a blessing to be a part of something that God is using to bring people to himself!
I encourage you to make the trip to Lexington and come see This Man Called Jesus...I promise you'll walk away with a full heart!

Today was dress rehearsal and I got to experiment with taking pictures in the dark... learning how to adjust the ISO and apperature settings... not too bad, if I do say so myself!
Here's a little sneak peak ...
A great friend that we grew up with, Taylor Wilks, is playing Mary this year! She has such a beautiful voice...
Here, Gabriel is speaking to Mary in a dream...

one of the many colorful marketplace scenes...

shepherds on the way to see Jesus...

Mary (Taylor), singing Breath of Heaven, and Joseph on their trek to Bethlehem...

The best part of all...DURHAM is playing baby Jesus this year!!!
She LOVED all the lights and movement...and also enjoyed everyone bowing down to her! Ha!

The Oh Holy Night scene has always been my favorite. It is the most lively and colorful of the scenes. In highschool, I was a wiseman's attendant. I got to wear a shiny blue outfit and lead the wise men processional down the stage with a tambourine. As you can see, the role of "wise man attendant" has come a long way...

Here is the dramatic ending of the scene with all the wisemen, attendants, and shepherds bowing down to Jesus (aka Durham)!
In college, I got to sing Oh Holy Night as the middle angel up top...

Soooo... maybe we can find something a little more appropriate other than pink and blue jean to wear for the real performance? Ha!

Holly,
The 2:30 performances are always more crowded than the late ones. Durham is playing Jesus on the 13th and the 20th at 2:30pm. So, look for us if you're there at one of those! :)
There is no need to get there more than an hour early.
WOW! that is so cool! I wish we lived close enough to come! Good luck!
